i started the day swimming in sweat. summer is probably my least favorite weather of the seasons, for multiple reasons - not solely based on temperature. anyway, sweat. enough to convince me to bus it off starting tomorrow onwards until autumn decides to really commit itself to us. no stress autumn, you take your time. by then, it'll only be days til we hear people begging for summer to come back, too cold to handle.
humans. hardly ever grateful on things given.
carrying on, i was so thirsty before work today, i dropped by the convenience store owned by a muslim just few doors away from the office. normally gives me salaam, and for every thing i buy, he takes off 30cents of the price.
'thats okay sister. just $2.50'
may Allah bless the kind brother.
and that was the price for my breakfast juice. quenched my thirst, and that was how i kicked start my day into my pool of funds.
sometimes we get so engrossed in the things we do, we forget the purpose of doing them in the first place. so easily we lose the plot, we either drown aimlessly, or we float in loss. quite a bad position to be in. thats exactly when tiredness easily kicks in, we get bored and lazy.
' align yourself back to your purpose. the word ibadah comes from the word ubudiyyah. it is an act of sunnah to do things as ibadah. every thing that the Prophet did, was an ibadah. when he eats, when he sleeps, when he walks, it was always with dhikr, with his thoughts inclined to Allah s.w.t, and thats how we should be too. ask yourself, where am i going ? home. home to ? to your bed ? or to Allah ? '
we were made forgetful, and that is the importance of reminders. with the company of the right people, these reminders will be endless. when our thoughts are filled with only Him, in remembrance of Him, for the purpose of Him, there will be no place for anything else.
the most greatest of reminders of His greatness is these two things that we can never control.
1) the blinking of the eyes
2) our breathing
for with every blink that we make, it blinks upon His Will. Our breathing, is something we can never control. How long or how short, its pace, we can never go so long without it and vice versa. Hence, in any case that we find ourselves questioning the emptiness in our hearts, lets ask ourselves, what have we been filling it up with all these while ? temporary satisfaction , or did we make enough effort to look for something more permanent?
lets strive to gain this satisfactory permanency to 'live' in our hearts. because it clearly wasn't made for temporary things, what more temporary beings. it was made for something way bigger than that.
no summer, i dont hate you. you've been nothing but a great blessing for me all the while.
