that blessing, in disguise

Ramadhan is almost at its end. How was it different for you this time?

This Ramadhan has been the most dear to my heart, because I finally got back to doing something I have left for so long, recitation. Not the usual, bits and pieces, but the whole of it. Like reading a book again. The act of istiqamah was a challenge, but I manage my way through, and try a little harder everyday.

I learned the power of having a good heart. Accepting the imperfections but always keeping in mind that it shouldn't be a license for people to perform the wrong. Intentions are vital in our daily lives. If it is clear and true, He will help you there. If it wasn't, it will show.

Scrubbing off bad habits were exhausting. And I thought all these while it was the evil devils around me. But really, it was the demon inside me that I had to let go of.

Most importantly, the test of patience. This was by far the most challenging. People are naturally selfish in their own ways. But the act of actually pushing that aside to make way for others even if it wasn't theirs in the first, thats hard to do. And I know not everyone can do that. The Prophet's sunnah was obviously easier said than done. But it changes you in a way upon trying to act if not the same, but towards the same direction.

I am surprised by what Ramadhan has taught me this year. In people, in my surroundings, and most importantly in myself. But I do know, you never lose in giving way for others, in doing good and in bettering yourself towards His way.

In the wise words of my Dad, be the better person. Always change for the better. Don't let your heart be stiffened by the worldly affairs, its temporary. Focus on permanency.

Can I please have a jet plane to take me home and give my two favorite people a tight hug? Thank you for bringing me up and teaching me how to live life. I am nothing without both of them.
