Hak-tuih!

/ Thursday, April 2, 2009 /
Pardon me for my indecorous title. But I believe the group of ignorant knuckle-heads I happened to notice just now in Bangsar , deserve a hak-tuih from me.

  Yes.

You guys win hands down when it comes to dressing up like those characters of Gossip Girls, Mr Archibald? Or would you prefer if I compliment your dressing much similar to Mr Bass?. Whoever, whatever. Either way, you look very 'plastic' to me.

And so you had every right to smoke at that place, it's your right, it's a free country, and yes, I could have chosen to sit somewhere further to where you plastics were sitting, so okay, I guess it's partially my fault for exposing myself to your smoking agendas, and there goes my solid reason to bitch about you here in this space. Well, the good news is, Im not going to bitch on how you made me a passive smoker or how you were very considerate with everyone around you, happily puffing away to your left and right.

But you guys really, really ticked me off when I had to witness what you did to that young salesmen who walked up to your table. How you diss him off rudely. I saw how he politely asked for your permission to take 5 minutes of your 'precious' footle time. How you heckled him after every sentence he finished.Surprisingly, he didn't retaliate to your doings, I was impressed with the amount of patience he had. Well yea, thats what you need to become a good salesmen, right?. To embrace rejection and to have unbelievably high level of patience, apart from good communication skills.

   Here's the thing.
I wonder if you plastics have been taught the word, ' No' , or perhaps, in a more civilised way, 'No, THANKS'.

If you didnt want to listen to him, you could have told him so. Poor chap, politely, calmly  explaining his product, and there you were, laughing away, as if he meant nothing. You laughed at every word he had to say, at every expression he came up with, and you laughed out LOUD. Loud enough to draw everyones attention to your corner. Poor chap flushed with redness, embarassed? I dont know if that's strong enough, but what you did was more than enough to make him walk away, and never turn back. Not to even try his luck on other nearby tables. I could tell he was new to this 'world'. When in normal occasion, you'd see a salesmen bow off to every version of 'no' they got, not this one. He took off in a flash.

Yeah he dressed up rather geek-ish. Black framed glasses, ever so thick lenses, work attire, sweat running down his forehead, a perfect description of those nerds you always see in school. I looked at my watch, it was 11:45pm. There , the 'well-off' bunch of plastics happily teasing the salesmen who just took off from their table, and there was the young salesmen, still working at that hour, probably frustrated by how cruel the world can get, regardless of politeness being served.

God bless you young chap. Wherever you are. I hope you know that patience is a virtue. And that things dont come easy, it's a tough world out there. It may seem like those plastics got the best of you, but worry not, for it is you who gained more.

My attention shifted to a jolly toddler. A friendly one. She gave me a flying kiss after I secretly winked at her.

Take things slow little one. For you would wish to be back to this state where everything is simplified for you. No rush, no responsibilities, no commitments. Dont wish to grow up just yet.  I hope your parents will prepare you for the truth life will bring you, the good, the bad, I hope they teach you on expectations and hopes, how both can be confusing at times, hard to balance. Having said all that, be assured that everything will be alright. It always will turn out alright. Just like how my parents would tell me. You're so full of enthusiasm. Never ever kill that. Bring that with you as you grow up, it gets things going. You're too little to understand what happened to that salesmen just now, but its okay. I hope you know never to do that to anyone else, despite of them being of different level. There shouldnt be any level in the first place. We're all equal. Now, thats better. You have a great smile. See how easy it is to fall in love with little creatures like you? :)

p/s : I've always been a sucker for a guy like Humphrey. Simple, intelligent, those witty kinds. One that never tries too hard to be someone they're not.

Oh shit. Sakit nya hati I dengar pasal these kind of people. Nama je kaya and kononnya classy lah sebab pakai baju stylish, tapi perangai macam orang kampung. Silap, at least orang kampung pun lagi beradab.

Goddd.. I don't knowlah, these kinds of things really get me worked up too, you're not alone. You know what's a big issue that ticks me off? Bila orang nonchalant je dekat helpers mcm mak cik guard, makcik cleaner.

Some not only pretend as if they are not there; they even go as far as making a face lah, buat geli lah bila they come with brooms or mops and whatnot.

I once blew up at my classmates in INTEC because they tak respect langsung makcik cleaner and buang papers all over the floor in the classroom. Dahla tak kasik salam, buat dont know, and tak respect langsung. Grrrr.

Cantik rupa, tak cantik adab, what for? On the Humphrey bit, I totally agree with you. Although his uptight ways make him a very stuffy person sometimes.

njahmat: Yes nj. There are people like that. And I always wonder why it is so hard for them to just greet these people who keep our toilets clean and whatnots. Kesian. Tak nak greet tak apa, but atleast respect, ade je yg selambe badak buang sampah on the floor just because he knows makcik cleaner is sweeping at the same time. my God. Insensitive.

angah : tell me about it angah.

anonymous : waiting for you to introduce yourself :P. haha :) you're right, atleast he earns an honest living. I really hope hes okay. I feel so bad for him.
